The Difference between Down Light and Spot Light

The difference between down lights and spot lights is that downlight is basic lighting, and the accent lighting of spotlights has a clear sense of hierarchy without without Master Luminaire.

1.COB:

Down Light:It is a flat light source, and floodlights are used as basic lighting. The overall space will be bright. It is often used in living rooms, aisles, balconies, etc. The light source of downlights is generally not adjustable in angle, and the light pattern is uniform, the wall washing has no hill effect or is not obvious.

Spot Light: Always used COB for wallwasher, highlighting decorations objective and creating an atmosphere. The light source is generally adjustable in angle, and the light is relatively focused and has a sense of hierarchy.

2.Beam Angle:

Down Light:Widenarrow beam angle.

Spot Light: Beam angle 15°,24°,36°,38°,60° etc..

Different Beam Angles has different light efficiency.

15°:Central spotlight, fixed-point lighting, suitable for specific object.

24°:The center is bright, clear wall washing, suitable for living room, bedroom, study.

36°:Soft center, suitable for living room, bedroom, study.

60°:Large lighting area, used for aisles, kitchens, toilets, etc.

3.Anti-glare Effect:

Down Light: The anti-glare effect of large beam angle is weak, usually by making deep holes to improve the anti-glare effect and improve the overall space brightness.

Spotlight: The smaller the beam angle, the more concentrated light, and the deep hole anti-glare trim design is used to achieve a good anti-glare effect.
